I thought Jason was going to go and share us all the story of what happened on Thursday night, but I guess he got lazy or something. Fortunately, I had something already typed out the whole thing, but for this, I'm putting some additional information for all of you, since you don't seem to know much about what I am to talk about. Most importantly, I just best share AND warn you all about what happened at Town Line Ten Pin
located in Malden, MA. Not JUST DDR and ITG players, but to EVERYONE.
For
those who don't know who this Gerry is, he's the fat angry ugly guy
over there, usually in the afternoon/night shifts. He's one of the
managers at an arcade I go to for ITG all the way at TownLine Ten Pin, located at Malden, MA, which takes about an hour to and from the place. From there, that's quite a lot of time just for them. Jeff, who lets us maintain the pats peacefully so that TLTP gets more money from us ITG players, is the other
manager, the GOOD manager.
The day started out normally, with Alex and I fixing
the pads early at 10:30 in the morning, but first viewing any errors that the pads had with a game or two. For whatever reason, some Asian
guy that worked there accused us of not putting money in or something.
What are you talking about? Of course we're putting money in. Alex
talked to the guy to fix the pads, since he was supposed to ask Jeff
when he came in at 10:00, and he had yet to show up. The guy gave Alex
permission and went to the service menu to the test input screen to
test the good and bad sensors in.
About three or four hours of
work in, I thought we were doomed, because Gerry (Anti-ITG we call him)
had already arrived, even though I had heard he would have come in at
the end of Jeff's shift at 4. I warned Alex about it, and neither of
them seemed to have a problem with it (of course, I didn't talk to
Gerry, because he's just terrifying to begin with.) A while later, we
fully maintained the pads, as well as put a lot of time to level the
pads as perfect as possible, which turned out to be fantastic. The
right pad still had a large amount of issues, but the left pad was
just crisp, and I barely had a problem (I might have still gotten a pad
way off or something, but at that time, it was hard to decipher whether
it was me or the pad.)
Eventually, it was just Jason, Erica, and
I playing ITG there. While Erica was playing a round, Gerry goes over
to the billiards area. If you know the structure of the building, the
area pretty much goes from his desk to the miniature arcade, then to
the billiards table. As he's walking over there, he glares sinistrally
at the machine, muttering, "God, I hate this fucking game..." And he
does the same thing on his way back. I talk to Jason, wondering what
his damn problem was. We're doing nothing but giving you money, Town
Line.
A little before 8, my game finally finishes and I go
change up. I had missed the part where a bald guy that worked there
said to all the ITG players that they had to leave after Erica's game
when she was playing her last round anyway. Well not to mention, this
was our last session anyway, and there were three other players that
were desperate to play. That all didn't last too long with all of us
though. Suddenly, Gerry just comes stomping and charging angrily at the
bald guy (I don't know his name, sorry.) and he yells at him, something
about a walk out, but it was something I couldn't fully understand. I'm
guessing he was directing it to have us walk out.
Now, WHILE
poor Erica was playing, Gerry didn't hesitate at all to do his
terrifying acts. With all his might, he went over to the back corner of
the machine where the cords were, slides the machine that had SLAMMED
hard on the pads while Erica was playing, almost hitting the poor girl,
and just yanks the cord out, yelling at what I assumed to be all of us
and the guy, leaving us speechless. I think he was complaining about us
playing the damn game. So what? If he doesn't want the machine there,
then just get rid of it for all I care after what you've done.
Afterwards, we all were pretty much forced to leave, still shocked,
confused, terrified, you name it.
I got home, hoping to find
their official website, which they apparently don't have, but I browsed
through a lot of websites that contained reviews and whatnot about
Malden's Town Line Ten Pin. I see very few positive comments on there,
maybe two or three per site, and there was nothing else. I suppose
people over there are pansies about letting Town Line go out of
business. I did, however, see one negative comment, which, to be
honest, was no surprise. There was a list on this one page that had
several good comments, as well as bad ones. Unfortunately, there was no
official website to file in a complaint.
So there's the story.
I'm pretty much over the incident now and I had told Alex as well. But
all in all, that's my last visit over to that hell. If you guys want to
go there, be my guest, but I'm just warning you guys on what Gerry
could do if he's there.
